Commuting to Denver from Boulder Is Fast and Easy

Boulder’s mass transit system makes commuting a breeze. The city has an extensive bus system operated by the Regional Transportation District (RTD). The HOP, SKIP, JUMP, BOUND, DASH and STAMPEDE routes run throughout the city and connect to nearby communities on a frequent basis, with departures every ten minutes during peak hours, Monday-Friday. Other routes, such as the 201, 203, 204, 205, 206, 208, 209 and 225 depart every 15 to 30 minutes.

There are over 100 scheduled buses that run between Boulder and Denver on weekdays, making it easy to catch a bus at a time that suits your schedule. Regional routes that travel between nearby cities such as Longmont, Golden, and Denver, as well as Denver International Airport, are also available.

In the future, Boulder will also be connected to downtown Denver with a Bus Rapid Transit route along US-36. The project is being funded by FasTracks and construction is expected be completed in 2016. A commuter rail route is set to run through Boulder to Longmont with a station located at the intersection of 30th and Pearl Streets.

A commuter rail will travel between Longmont, Boulder and Denver, with stops in major communities along the way beginning in 2014. A transit-oriented development near Pearl and 33rd Streets is also in the works to accommodate a Boulder Fastracks station. The development will include the relocated Boulder Railroad Depot.

There are a number of different passes available for both bus and light rail service. The One-Day Pass is valid for unlimited one-day travel on a specified level of bus or light rail service including Local, Express or Regional. The Five-Day Pass provides unlimited rides on all level of bus and light rail service for five consecutive days. A 10-Ride Ticketbook is pocket-sized and contains 10 tickets valid for a one-way specified type of bus or light rail fare. Tickets are valid through the expiration date printed on the ticket.

Monthly and ValuPasses are also available, making public transportation an efficient and economical means of getting around the area.
