Whether you’ve got your own rack and just want to try a new route, or you are new to climbing and are looking for instruction or a guided adventure, you will find it in Boulder.
Eldorado Canyon, Boulder Canyon, Flagstaff Mountain and the Flatirons are sure to provide the level of challenge you need, and they are all nearby. Eldorado Springs is a world-renowned climbing site with 700 plus routes and attracts climbers from all over. Boulder Canyon offers numerous sport climbing routes on granite.
The Flatirons offer many routes to choose from and are often the scene of some creative ascents, like free solo, speed and moonlight climbs. Access to the Flatirons access is usually restricted between February and July in order to protect nesting raptors.
If you’re looking to keep those climbing muscles in shape during the offseason, head to the Colorado Mountain School’s climbing gym for some indoor climbing. The gym also offers a range of programs, instruction, fitness equipment, group events, and more. Other climbing gyms are also available in the Boulder area.
Ice climbing in local mountain ranges is also very popular. Sign up for ice climbing instruction with local guides and head out for a day on the ice. CU-Boulder also offers rock and ice climbing courses, as do the area’s indoor climbing gyms.
