It's no secret that there's tons of great local art in the Boulder area. it's hard not to be inspired by the beautiful backdrop of the Flatirons.
But now it seems that Boulder locals aren't the only ones who know this little secret. The Boulder-Longmont area was recently named one of the most artistic in the United States. The list was compiled by Richard Florida who wrote The Rise of the Creative Class and Who’s Your City.
The list was determined by looking at how many artists are in areas when compared with the nation as a whole. The Boulder and Longmont area ranked about double the number of artists when compared with the rest of the United States.
The author says that the contributors to Boulder’s artistic flair is the University of Colorado, the beautiful scenery and the “bohemian culture.” Boulder also is home to Naropa University.
Locals say Boulder’s vast beauty inspires many. There also are many art galleries on Pearl Street and across the city - not to mention many art hot spots in Longmont and other communities in Boulder County.
The community gives many people ideas of art and there are many events that are related to art. In Boulder, much of this centers around the Pearl Street Mall.
Other cities on the list included Santa Fe, NM; San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York City and Santa Cruz, Calif.
