This is the time of year when people turn their attention to shopping for the holidays. Both Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become big cash calling cards for major national retailers. Now, smaller business are hoping to turn the tide and focus the light of attention on their offerings on this year’s Small Business Saturday – set for Nov. 26.
The day, Small Business Saturday, is being sponsored by American Express and is a national campaign aimed at getting people to shop local businesses. A variety of Boulder businesses plan to participate in the day to help raise awareness about the impact of small businesses on the local economy.
Officials with Downtown Boulder Inc. say Nov. 26 is a great way to help celebrate and support small shops and businesses.
American Express is giving some small businesses free advertising on Facebook for taking part in Small Business Saturday. Additionally, the company plans to offer special perks to people who have an American Express card who shop a certain small businesses on the special Saturday.
One Boulder company that plans to take part in Small Business Saturday is Barbara and Company, which is located at 15th and Pearl streets. The store is a women’s boutique and plans to offer shoppers a special promotion on Saturday for the American Express-sponsored day.
