Some planned hiking and horse trails on Aneomone Hill are on the drawing boards with Boulder open space officials suggesting the new move. Officials with the Open Space Department also have suggested a new trail for mountain bikes that would create a new connection between Settlers’ Park and Fourmile Canyon Drive.
Bikes would still not be allowed on Anemone Hill’s two main loops, however. Although officials with the Boulder Open Space Department made these suggestions, it goes against a vote that was recently taken among the Board of Trustees of the Open Space. The Board wants to see a new loop that stretches five miles on the hill, and they want it open for people to ride their mountain bikes there.
The latest proposal by the department of open space also entails creating a new five-mile trail on Anemone Hill called Ridge Loop, which would be devoted to people on foot and on horse. The proposed mountain biking trail would be 2.9 miles long and be on the southern edge of the proposed loop trail. It would end at Fourmile Canyon Drive.
Open Space officials told the Boulder City Council that they have confirmed a deal with an owner of private property to allow the proposed change to take place.
Boulder City Council will evaluate the issue on Oct. 25 in a special meeting.
